Option 1: Uber's own photography session
Uber has a help page on how restaurants schedule photography. It says restaurants that have partnered with Uber Eats but haven't had their photography session can contact support to arrange one. What's included, and whether there's a cost, depends on your agreement, so check Uber's pricing page and ask support.
- Good: arranged by Uber, and made for the Uber Eats app.
- Keep in mind: you work around Uber's schedule, and new dishes later may need new photos.
Option 2: Hire a food photographer
A local food photographer comes to you, styles the dishes and edits the photos. Prices vary a lot by city, the number of dishes and what's included, so there's no single price to quote. Ask two or three photographers for a written quote, and check each one includes:
- A price for your number of dishes, not per hour only.
- Edited files sized for Uber Eats: 2880 × 2304 pixels, 5:4 (see the Uber Eats photo size guide).
- The right to use the photos on every delivery app and your own social media.
- When you get the files.
This suits restaurants that want a consistent style across the whole menu and have the budget for it.
Option 3: Take photos on your phone, then enhance them
A recent phone, daylight from a window and a clean background get you most of the way. Our guide to taking food photos on your phone walks you through it. You can then improve the light, colour and background yourself, or have it done, as long as the photo still shows your real dish.
If you'd rather not edit them yourself, our Menu and Photos package enhances your real photos of up to 15 dishes and delivers them sized for Uber Eats.
What if a dish has no photo at all?
Uber Eats can show photos taken by customers on items that have no photo from the restaurant (Uber). Adding your own photos to your best sellers means customers see the dish the way you serve it.
Which option is right for you?
- Just joined Uber Eats: ask support about Uber's photography session first.
- Want a premium look across a big menu: get quotes from photographers.
- Want to start this week with little cost: phone photos, enhanced.
Whichever you choose, start with your ten best sellers. Our guide on getting more orders explains why.
